Workshop of Technical Exchange on Irrigation and Fertigation Practices

NCARTT

Amman 05-08/02/2007

Objective: The objectives of this workshop are:

  1. Introduced how to prepare a fertilization program using a tool developed by the GTZ (German Technical Cooperation) Team in Jordan. This tool will help in reducing the costs of fertilizers applied by the farmers.

  2. Introduced software called ON-FARM NETWORK DESIGN developed by MREA (Regional Mission of Water and Agriculture) French Embassy-Amman-Jordan as a simple tool to help in design and evaluate on-farm networks. The software is used to help the user to choose the correct design parameters in the whole irrigation system starting from the Control Head Unit and ending with the laterals. Therefore, it is a mean to help to choose the suitable pipe layout and diameters to achieve optimized irrigation system (in terms of both performance and cost).

  3. Presenting to the participants from Lebanon and Jordan new technology of filtration applied by the project to the pilot farmers as well as the techniques used by the project to evaluate the irrigation system.

  4. Training the participants on Pilazo Technique for determining the N content in plant.

  5. Setting common methods between partners in Lebanon and Jordan to reach the objectives of the project
